A Song That I Can Dance To

Day Nine – A Song That I Can Dance To:

I must embrace my Detroit Techno on this day. What else can get me up and dancing than some great solid beats and bass lines?

Although “Good Life” by Inner City was known and embraced as a good old Chicago House classic, the man behind the groove is a Detroit Native. In fact, Kevin Saunderson was known as one of the “Belleville Three” … a trio of artists credited with the invention of Detroit Techno.

“Good Life” brings back a lot of good memories for me. It reminds me of those old-school Filipino House Parties I’d gone to back in the ‘80’s. It also brings me back to those Freestyle Days like Expose or Cover Girls. Or Lisa Lisa and the Cult Jam.

Seeing that I was barely “of age” when this song was first released, I was always bummed that I was never able to experience grooving to “Good Life” where it was probably best played (Filipino House Parties being the exception).

But in the early 2000’s, I actually did one better than experiencing “Good Life” at the Clubs; I actually got to see Inner City perform it live at the Detroit Electronic Music Festival. And … thanks to trusty Press Passes, Hubby & I were able to meet the musical genius behind the song.
