Thirty Days of Thanks, Day Ten

The older I get, the harder it is to maintain close friendships. It makes it twice as difficult when I know I’m the one that tends to keep my distance from people.

I could probably blame it on being different because of infertility or the fact that we’re living child-free, but the truth is that I’m scared to put myself out there. Maybe that’s why I haven’t been writing on this blog lately.

But I’m trying to change that. I would like to have those friendships again. I would like to be brave enough to put myself out there and share things with someone other than just Hubby. I would like to define myself as someone other than an infertile gal living childfree, still grieving the passing of her father.

But this post is supposed to be about something I’m thankful for, not to feel sorry for myself. SO … what I AM thankful for are those friendships that have managed to survive the ups an downs of my life thus far. And I’m thankful for those friendships that like me just for who I am.

Thirty Day of Thanks, Day Eight

I love music. Pretty obvious if you’ve read my month of songs that I wrote about last year.

Tonight, on the drive home from work, Hubby and I were listening to the radio (regular radio, we’re too cheap for satellite). Amazingly every station we tuned in to happened to be playing one of those songs that had us singing at the top of our lungs.

Yes, we’re geeks. But at least we were happy geeks this evening.

So today I’m thankful for having music in my life.

Thirty Days of Thanks, Day Seven

Today, I am thankful that we can finally move forward in the next chapter of the United States.

It’s no secret that I’m a bleeding heart liberal. You would know that by reading some of my older posts. But I’ve always been that way, since my wayward youth.

Regardless of who you voted for yesterday, I do hope that all of us can move forward to creating a bipartisan government where we can work together instead of against one another.

Thirty Days of Thanks, Day Six

It’s Election Day here in the U.S., so I’d be remiss if I wasn’t thankful for the right to vote. No matter what political persuasion you lean towards, I hope that you do what I did first thing this morning … exercise my right to vote.
